photographs capture our incredible world and the fascinating creatures who inhabit it. each day,
we are bombarded with a million images: an impossibly imposing pine tree at the edge of a rainforest; a neighbor’s wildly
colorful garden; the cherry red of a passing sports car; or the intense blue of a sales clerk’s sparkling eyes. it is
our mind’s job to sort through all we take in, and make sense of it; decide what to keep, and what to discard.
as a photographer, it is a privilege to be part of the process of immortalizing select moments in
time, getting life down in print. for other than in science fiction, fixing an image on film is the only way mere mortals
can make time stand still…live in the present, recall with clarity what they have experienced.
how amazing it is to watch as a subject evolves in front of the camera. frame by frame, the subtleties
of their character slowly revealed to the lens. nature unfolds in subtle ways, too. the quiet beauty of a spring day, dappled
greens and yellows, sunlight at play on new leaves, captured forever on film.
as much as we are shaped by what we see, the images we hold onto are an enormous part of who we
are. the photos on this site reflect how jo sees the world…and if she has captured a small fraction of all that is amazing
in life, feel free to contact her…and there are thousands more photographs by request.
